But don’t worry he is back now. My dad came home and informed me that Humphrey escaped when he was leaving for work. Not only did he run out of the house, he kept on running down the street to Erik’s house. He realized no one was there (meaning I wasn’t there) and laid down. Read the rest of this entry »

I attended my first partner yoga class with Erik at Omadawn yoga studio. http://www.omadawn.com/
It enabled me to get into deeper stretches since my partner had his weight on me. At times this led to a lot of pain in my hamstrings since we did a 45 mile bike ride and a short run before the class. We also did a lot of lifts. This proved to be a challenge since my partner weighs about 100 pounds more than me. Read the rest of this entry »
I tried making my own veggie smoothie today. I don’t like that the veggie smoothies at the juice places don’t have any of the fiber in them…. they are basically $6 juices. I made mine in two parts. The first section was made in the food processor. I put in 3 carrots, brussel sprouts, whole cranberries, and a fuji apple. I grinded everything into little bits. The second section was in the blender. I used a grape juice base and added milk, whey protein powder, frozen blueberries and the puree from section 1.
I poured glasses for everyone and it wasn’t a hit. Apparently, people like to drink smoothe smoothies. I don’t mind the chunky chewy kind and liked it. It tasted mostly like apple/carrot and grape juice. The fiber was there and so were the vitamins. Stay tuned for the next recipe.
3 carrots, 8 brussel sprouts, 15 whole cranberries, 1 fuji apple, half a cup of frozen blueberries, quarter cup of milk, 2 scoops of whey protein powder, 2 cups of grape juice.
This makes about five 8 oz glasses of chunky smoothie.
Out of curiosity I went to the local juice bar in Seal Beach after my swim. It’s called Calypso and is close to PCH on Main. I have heard tales of this juice bar and I was out of lunch options so I decided to try it out. Read the rest of this entry »
